Plenty of history and character.
The 17th building has a significant place in British history and many iconic figures have stayed at the hotel including Charles Dickens. Many guests appreciated the charm and character of this old building as well as the original period features.

Tiring climb up the stairs.
As this building is 300 years old, there is no lift meaning that guests whose rooms were on the upper floors had to climb the steep and narrow stairs on a daily basis. Some also complained about having to carry their luggage up the stairs when they checke

Some guests have complained about the bathrooms being very tired and basic. Not all bathrooms have showers which posed a problem for some guests who found it difficult to wash their hair under the taps.
