Little short of paradise, the setting is truly impressive. The sunset over the beach has to be seen to be believed. Small wonder the place is so popular with honeymooners!

Don't worry about what to do and where to visit. Members of staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Organising excursions is second nature to them. As for the rooms, they are immaculate with little extra surprises left by the diligent cleaners. They don't clean the room once a day … they do it twice! Suites with pool and hot tub are something to behold, with fresh orchids strewn on the water every day.

Everyone is so efficient, yet friendly and not 'in your face' all the time. The sea is beautiful to swim in and the massages are expertly administered and completely relaxing.

Ao Nang is the main centre for restaurants and bars, but that's miles away. Either Reception doesn't know the numbers for local taxi firms, or the policy is not to tell you, so you are forced to use hotel transport. The latter seems most likely.

There's a significant tax on drinks. Most hotels here include it in the cost but, here, it's an extra on top of your drinks bill.

Villas aren't on the seafront. There are gardens in between through which everyone walks to and from the restaurants. The 'private' pools are very public; no privacy. Food is good but not sufficiently exceptional to merit the high cost.
