Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location.
This central Sydney hotel is close to a number of railway stations, subway and transport outlets. The area is a top spot for dining and shopping in Sydney. It's also in the buzzing business centre so, all in all, it couldn't be a better location!
positive:
Quiet rooms.
If you're expecting traffic noise in this busy quarter, you'll be surprised to find that it's really quiet.
positive:
Good value.
Rooms are simply furnished but perfectly adequate. If self catering, there's a useful 24-hour convenience store nearby; if not enthused about self catering, breakfast here is fine and the upgrade to cooked options is excellent value. The café area and the hotel, generally, have a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Plenty of rooms for improvement
Cleaning isn't very thorough and rooms are cramped, particularly for two sharing. Poor water pressure means not much of a shower and what water there is comes out only slightly warm. There are maintenance issues too. Things always go wrong in this sort of setting, but some problems appear to have a history.
negative:
Noise factor.
There's little noise coming from outside but wafer thin dividing walls mean that you can hear virtually everything from neighboring rooms.
negative:
Nothing's hot ... just warm
So, the showers are warm (ish) but, if you opt for a cooked breakfast, bacon and other ingredients are pre-cooked, so they too are warm rather than hot. Same for the teas and coffees. The continental breakfast is free, although you've paid for it in the tariff. It's very basic; toast, cereal and coffee; maybe a bit too basic for some appetites.
