Palm Beach Hotel (Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka)

The grounds are serene and quiet for the most part. It's a great vacation place to chill-out and relax. The pool area is a nice relaxed area as well.

You have a landscape view and a few minutes walk to the ocean. However, you will have to cross the railway lines to reach the beach. The centre of Colombo, it's a short ride with a taxi, is nearby and restaurants are within easy reach in Mount Lavinia.

Housekeeping create lovely towel designs. It's a nice, creative touch. Rooms are spacious and well maintained for the most part. The hotel has some interesting artwork displayed like ivory carved in the shape of a ship, a vintage car, and a brass sculpture. However, the hotel has an old-time charm and may not suit the more contemporary traveller.

The staff seem to have an attitude of indifference; however, it may not be out of malice. They just don't know any difference! They don't appear to be interested in any issues that may pop-up and won't investigate issues. Perhaps all you will get is a “sorry” and that's it. Customer relations need improving.

Wi-Fi is poor and not available in the rooms. It's only available in the reception area and its very slow.

You have to wait forever when ordering something. A bottle of water could take up to an hour. Breakfast can be served up to nearly a half-hour after ordering. There have been complaints of having to wait up to two-hours for items! Just a side note, the mosquitoes will drive you crazy, so be well prepared.
