Comfortable and clean rooms
Guests are unanimous in saying that the rooms at this hotel are both very comfortable and very clean. The fixtures and fittings are modern, with the bathrooms in particular said to be very good, while rooms are reported to be kept clean and tidy throughout the duration of a guest's stay.
positive:
Quieter than expected
Because the hotel is situated above a busy pub, many guests expected to hear excessive noise late into the evening. However this is not the case, with guests saying that their rooms were surprising quiet and beyond their expectations.
positive:
Great location
In terms of location, this hotel is in a great spot. It is in the heart of Southend's town centre, and is located just two minutes from the nearest train station. There are lots of places to eat and drink nearby if you choose not to eat in-house, too.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Reception might be confusing
Some guests have had to trouble with the hotel reception. As it turns out, hotel reception is the bar in the pub downstairs, and this confused some guests upon arrival who naturally expected a ‘traditional' hotel reception area. That said, the service guests receive thereafter is said to be spot on.
negative:
No lift
Due to the nature of this building, it is not possible to include a lift to higher floors, unfortunately. As such, you will need to carry your luggage upstairs to reach your room. This is something you will need to bear in mind if you suffer from any mobility issues.
negative:
No on-site parking
The city centre location of this hotel means there is no on-site parking of any description, let alone free parking. Guests with a car need to use the nearby public parking which comes at a cost.
