Visitors generally liked the location for its proximity to the A487 road, enabling easy access to Snowdonia National Park, Caernarfon Castle, Bangor and Angelsey. Set in converted buildings overlooking a former dock where cargoes of locally-mined slate were once loaded for transport around the world, the location was tranquil according to many guests. Reviewers were overwhelmingly impressed with the panoramic views along the Menai Strait.

Reviewers mostly thought the rooms were satisfactorily cleaned. Many liked the choice of accommodation from regular rooms to apartments and suites, some in buildings separate from the main hotel. Some suites contained two bedrooms, which was appreciated by larger groups. Most reviewers thought the beds were comfortable.

Reviewers were sometimes critical of the optional breakfast offering. Those who dined in the restaurant in the evenings occasionally encountered slow service despite ordering their food well in advance at the hotel’s request. Others disliked the food itself.
