Positive Reviews
positive:
Secluded but handy location with fine views.
Visitors generally liked the location for its proximity to the A487 road, enabling easy access to Snowdonia National Park, Caernarfon Castle, Bangor and Angelsey. Set in converted buildings overlooking a former dock where cargoes of locally-mined slate were once loaded for transport around the world, the location was tranquil according to many guests. Reviewers were overwhelmingly impressed with the panoramic views along the Menai Strait.

Positive about rooms.
Reviewers mostly thought the rooms were satisfactorily cleaned. Many liked the choice of accommodation from regular rooms to apartments and suites, some in buildings separate from the main hotel. Some suites contained two bedrooms, which was appreciated by larger groups. Most reviewers thought the beds were comfortable.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Criticism of dining.
Reviewers were sometimes critical of the optional breakfast offering. Those who dined in the restaurant in the evenings occasionally encountered slow service despite ordering their food well in advance at the hotel’s request. Others disliked the food itself.
negative:
Rooms had drawbacks.
Reviewers repeatedly described the rooms as being outdated and/or unloved. Moreover, many thought the interiors could be too busy with non-matching décor in certain rooms. Other shortcomings reported by reviewers included aging kitchen facilities, old carpets, broken tiles, noisy plumbing, dust and dirty windows. Some guests disliked the bathrooms for being small, lacking sufficient toiletries and occasionally having an unreliable hot water supply. In general, guests thought the property would benefit from an update.
negative:
Obstacles to sleep.
Some light sleepers described the walls as too thin; meaning noise from adjacent rooms was sometimes audible. Some guests who stayed in the tower building said it was a struggle to block out light because there were many windows.
