The star amenity is the indoor pool, which is heated and stays open all year long. Reception is on hand limited hours and can offer full concierge services. Security is onsite 24/7. Motorists can keep their car out of the snow and ice in the underground parking garage. Those not self catering will find many cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Those heading to Parliament, will find the Parliament Hill complex just a mile from Pelicanstay near Rideau Canal. Winter travellers shouldn’t miss the opportunity to skate on the frozen Rideau Canal, just a few steps away.
This was, without a doubt, what guests most appreciated about the apartments. They mentioned that they were very central, and it was a short walk, or sometimes taxi ride, to any spot in downtown Ottawa they really cared to visit.
Guests were in complete agreement that the apartments were a very good size. It didn't seem to matter what kind of unit was booked, all guests felt that they had enough space for all the members of their party, with no overcrowding reported.
Pretty much all guests were quite happy with the state of their apartment on check in. They felt that it had been properly cleaned, rather than just dusted or wiped here and there.
Guests felt that the rooms didn't really live up to the photos in the marketing materials. A long time had clearly passed since those photos were taken, with guests now saying the apartments, and especially the furniture in them, were looking a little down at heel. New furniture and a quick refresh was said to be in order.
This was perhaps the most common complaint, and without a doubt the most serious. A very large number of guests reported that not only were there incidental charges for all sorts of things they were not expecting, but that their credit card was charged more than they had agreed to. This was upsetting, to say the least, and left a very sour taste in many guests' mouths.
A remarkable number of guests were upset that there was no facility onsite to store bags for a couple of hours after checking out.
