The cleanliness of the hotel cannot be faulted.
From the moment you walk into reception, to arriving at your room and finally checking out, you'll be hard pressed to find any problems with the level of hygiene and cleanliness at this busy inner-city hotel.

negative:
Free Wi-Fi is hit or miss and needs improving.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided here, but you'll probably find that it's too slow to be of any use. Hopefully this will be improved, but if you need to stay connected make sure you have an alternative to the hotel Wi-Fi.
negative:
The staff here seem a little indifferent at times.
Whether it's the language barrier or dissatisfaction with management, the staff here can sometimes feel cold and unconcerned with your requests or issues. If you feel hard done by it's best to raise the issue with a senior member of staff.
negative:
Quality of room decor and facilities isn't great.
The Mercure Bangkok Siam is a four star hotel so you would expect rooms to be of a pretty high standard, but unfortunately they are beginning to feel dated. Facilities in the rooms, especially the dim lighting, could do with being improved.
