Hotel Makai Beach Lodge (Ormond Beach, USA)

Many of the guestrooms at Makai Beach Lodge offer a magnificent view of the ocean. It is a wonderful thing to see when you get up in the morning.

The location of this hotel is great. It feels like it is at the heart of everything. It is close to a number of stores and restaurants. There are a plethora of outdoor activities to do in the area and of course the beach is just a few steps away.

The staff here are really nice. They will greet you warmly and go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as it can be. If you have a problem with your room, they will try their best to fix it in a timely fashion and will do so without fuss.

Makai Beach Lodge is in dire need of a refurbishment. Much of the furniture is old, mismatched and worn. The paint is peeling and many of the drapes are torn. Some of the sinks have cracks in them and a few of the doors don't shut properly. The appliances are out of date and several of the mattresses feel worn.

As well as being in need of a spruce up, the hotel doesn't always feel as clean as it might be. Some of the floors seem dirty and guests have claimed to have seen bugs in the building. There is something of a musty and stale smell about the place as well.

The Wi-Fi connection at this hotel seems to drop out on a frustratingly regular basis.
