Positive Reviews
positive:
A good location
Hampton Inn and Suites San Marcos is within walking distance of several places to dine and drink and the hotel is a short drive away from two of the largest outlet malls in Texas. Texas State University is close at hand, as are most of the city's most popular tourist destinations. And because the property is just off I 35, getting in and out is a breeze.
positive:
The staff makes you feel at home
A warm, helpful, multilingual staff welcomes you at check-in and is there for the duration of your stay. They are happy to accommodate most any request and they can point you in the direction of places to eat and the most popular local attractions.
positive:
The guest rooms are clean and comfy
Clean, spacious guest rooms, comfortable beds and soft linens make for a really great experience. And with lots of amenities and a sitting area, you can really stretch out and relax.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No pets allowed
It's unfortunate that Hampton Inn and Suites San Marcos does not allow pets, especially for those who love to travel with their favorite four-legged friends.

Things can get noisy
If you are looking for a quiet stay, be sure to ask for a room well-away from I 35 which runs right past the property. Otherwise, the constant hum of Interstate traffic could keep you up way past your bedtime.

There are smoking rooms here
This hotel offers both non-smoking and smoking rooms. This is quite evident, because when you step over the threshold of a room that has housed smokers in the past, the acrid, stale smell of second-hand smoke is hard to miss. If this is a problem for you, be sure to state your preference for a non-smoking room upon booking, and then again at check-in.
