And guess what: they're aren't any piers, advertising hoardings, Ferris wheels – or even that many people – to get in the way; just a whole lot of calm blue sea with some lovely sand and a few rocks for good measure. Lovely.

The Elgin makes a massive effort with its entertainment programme, putting on everything from comedy nights and bingo to live music and tribute acts. They even host entertainment-based mini-breaks, such as Murder Mystery and “Hi-De-Hi” weekends. Great fun

Location is a little out of the way.
This hotel is a little removed from the main resort so, unless you're really into your walking, you won't be able to stroll along the Golden Mile without driving into town first. That being said, it's easy enough to get a tram into the resort from the nea

Rooms above cabaret bars suffer with noise.
If you're staying in a room located directly above the entertainment venues then don't anticipate getting much sleep before midnight. Even with earplugs in, you can still here the sound of the music/microphone reverberating!
