About Drayton Lodge
Set in a farmhouse, Drayton Lodge is a charming retreat which features a sprawling garden area and rooms with en-suite facilities. The B&B has a secluded location amongst nature, one mile from Daventry town-centre.
All of the rooms at Drayton Lodge are decorated in a simple yet appealing style. In terms of in-room amenities, guests can make use of the hospitality tray and television.
Ample parking is available on site and can be used free of charge. Another facility that is complimentary to utilise is the B&B's Wi-Fi service.
In the morning, a freshly cooked full-English breakfast – which utilises locally sourced ingredients when possible – is served. A popular local pub, The Saracens Head Inn, is one mile away from the property.
The popular Daventry Country Park is a five-minute journey by car from the B&B. Further afield, Royal Leamington Spa can be reached in approximately 25 minutes.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Beautiful building in tranquil setting
This seemed to be what guest most appreciated about the B&B. Few were there just for the experience of staying in the country, but seemed to have events and obligations in the “real” world beyond, and were happy to return to such a lovely setting at the end of the day.
positive:
Great food all round
Pretty much all guests enjoyed the full cooked breakfast. It really set them up for the day. Some also went on to say that the nearby pubs also had great food, and a terrific atmosphere. They never seemed to feel that they had to travel far to eat well.
positive:
Run by lovely friendly couple
The owners are described as a lovely couple who extend a warm welcome and display genuine friendliness and concern for their guest's needs. Guests couldn't be more complimentary.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Hard to find with GPS
This, of course, is quite common with country properties. The location seems to confuse a lot of SatNav systems, leaving a couple of guest lost, hopefully not submerged in a lake. It may be wise to go “old school” and print out a detailed map.
negative:
Very basic rooms
Even guests who loved the property were at best rather neutral about the rooms. They are described as very basic, both in terms of the décor and the furniture they contained. Most could brush this off due to the otherwise positive aspects of their stay, but some felt the rooms would need to be updated for them to be willing to return.
negative:
Some problems with the showers
While there weren't many complaints, a few guests mention that the shower in their bathroom was very difficult to use. Either there was no shower curtain, or the shower head was too low for an adult.
