Situated less than ten minutes' drive from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg Zoo and other attractions of downtown Hattiesburg, this is a decent, clean, safe place to stay with a lovely on-site restaurant serving all meals. Also a convenient four-minute ride from Cracker Barrel and Farmer's Market buffet, for alternatives.

Spacious, Adequate Rooms
Well-appointed rooms with cozy beds, quality amenities and excellent bathrooms.

Superb Staff
The staff here regularly go above and beyond their duties, and this one has front desk employees who don't mind assisting - even when most would turn away. Some guests have named personally such team members, as they've helped out with matters well outside expectations. Kudos to this team, and let's hope they are well-compensated in return.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Reservation Glitches
Bring a printed copy of your reservation transaction, with the date, type of room and rate promised. Some have experienced significant issues either upon arrival when their desired rooms were fully booked, or when checking out, being charged a remarkably higher rate. Some guests booked suites and were given regular rooms. Make sure you advocate well for yourself, especially if you're a frequent guest of Holiday Inn. Be aware of large events in the area, such as Homecoming football games at the University.
negative:
Housekeeping Fails
It should be expected with a full house that management will schedule a sufficient staff to clean all the rooms properly - perhaps this was overlooked. Either way, some guests reported dirty rooms for multiple days of their stay when the hotel was fully booked.
negative:
Room Rants
Some found their decor tired and worn, dirty sofa beds, tiny televisions, and scratchy, rough tissue in the bathroom, leaking refrigerators, non-working remote controls, broken toilet fixtures, lack of hot water, missing microwaves and moldy areas on the carpeting.
