About Hotel Britannia Excelsior
Hotel Britannia Excelsior lies on the edge of Lake Como, where it offers 3-star accommodation, looking across the water to Bellagio. A seasonal outdoor pool on pontoons make the most of the views and the lake ferries from Griante/Cadenabbia leave from a dock just 50m away.
Some rooms boast lake and pool views and even a balcony, while all have antique furniture, satellite TV, safe, desk and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer.
Free public parking can be found nearby, guests can make use of a second pool, business centre and meeting facilities and free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Tours, transfers and water sports can be arranged, as well as laundry service and dry cleaning.
Hotel Britannia Excelsior has four bars, four restaurants and breakfast is available daily as a continental-style buffet.
Griante centre is 10 minutes’ walk and Lugano is a 45-minute drive away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Lakefront lovely as can be.
The selling point of Britannia Excelsior definitely has to be the location; sitting right on the beautiful shore of Lake Como, you have fantastic views of Bellagio, Villa Carlotta is close by and the ferry which travels across the lake is just a few minut
positive:
Well-serviced stay.
Guests have found the rooms to be well-cleaned and in good condition and the staff has proved to be very helpful and welcoming to all.
positive:
Floating pool area.
During the summer opening season, you will find the pontoon pool to be a great attraction and the bar staff good at mixing up exactly what you need.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Too many British tourists.
Some people were unhappy to find Britannia Excelsior full with British package-tour tourists, most of whom are fairly elderly. If you are looking for somewhere small and personable, then perhaps look elsewhere.
negative:
Food not enjoyed by all.
While the dining seemed fine to some and the bars well enjoyed, a fair number of guests found the fare to be disappointing, the breakfast to be dire and the coffee worse.
negative:
Needs refurbishment.
A number of guests have been unhappy to find furniture old, the halls rundown and in need of refurbishing and some hotel items simply left standing in the corridors.
