About Joy River Backpackers

Joyriverbackpackers is a self catering accommodation facility in an African village adjacent to the Blyde River canyon and opposite the Bourks Luck Potholes. We are the genuine African experience, situated on the bank of the Blyde river, at the edge of Moremela village. The sound of the river will lull you to sleep, or the sounds of village life and African rhythms will keep you intrigued. That is after you had our fine vegetarian pizza, arranged a day beforehand,and listened to some good guitar tunes by Heston, or make a fire, a big one, and have a braai, we organise some beers to send you of to dreamland. Then go explore the hiking trails in the canyon, or the Three Rondawel viewpoint, and Bourks Luck Potholes. Or spend the day resting at our spot, swimming by the river. Choose to stay in the stone house, two double beds in a room with en suite bathroom, the lounge can sleep two more, and kitchen with plenty fridge space. Linen provided. Flush toilets. Or stay in the bunker bed, dormitory style rondawel which sleeps max 5 people, shared outside showers and kitchen.
