If passing through, this is a great opportunity to relax in unpretentious surroundings and enjoy the company of local residents. If staying over … the accommodation is pretty impressive too!

Everything is here that the visitor could reasonably expect. Rooms are well furnished and decorated; plus they are cleaned to an impressively high standard. Staff members, throughout, are great. Customer service is excellent.

Breakfast is excellent in content and choice - *although both take a bit of a ‘dip' on Monday morning! That Monday Morning feeling? Hey ho! It's later that the place comes into its own. There's a really appealing light lunch menu … which, to many, might represent a full meal. Then, the dinner menu is really tasty with ingredients that have that unmistakable stamp of ‘quality'. Ever wondered why so many ‘locals' eat here? Now you know!

Nobody has to drive, everyone can relax and enjoy a drink … or two ... or more. The problem is some subsequent room noise and the possible drunken guest setting off of the fire alarm system. This serves to sober everyone up with a jolt!

Rooms are accessed via very steep stairs and seemingly miles of endless corridors. They should have thought things through better in the 17th century!

In a place like this where the flowing of drinks is the main source of income … why isn't the white wine properly chilled? Room cleaning is OK but, on completion, the cleaner should have a last look round the room … AND flush the loo!
