Positive Reviews
positive:
Easy access to Durham city centre.
Perhaps above all else, the best thing about the Queen’s Head is its proximity to Durham city centre. At a little more than a mile away, many guests chose to walk in but if you’re not up for that, it’s just a five-minute drive and is also easily accessible via local bus routes.
positive:
Pleasant staff.
Guests generally find that the staff at the B&B offer a warm welcome and friendly service. The team is happy enough to chat and are able to provide information about what to see and do in the local area if required.
positive:
Nice ambience in the bar.
The bar at the Queen’s Head seems to boast a nice ambience where guests can feel comfortable. You will find locals in there too, but it seems like it’s a pleasant crowd. Sky Sports was a bonus for many guests.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Very basic breakfast.
A number of guests comment that they found the free breakfast at this B&B disappointing and far too basic to get excited about. It seems that additional options are available for a small surcharge. It may be worth paying this as comments about the food are otherwise quite complimentary.
negative:
Disappointing rooms.
Many guests found the accommodation at the Queen’s Head was below the standard they had hoped for. Not only will you have to share a bathroom, you will also have to contend with tired and dated décor, as well as problems such as loose wires, uncomfortable beds and paper thin walls.
negative:
Frustrating Wi-Fi.
It appears that you may have to rely on your phone signal to access the Internet here. Some guests describe how the signal was so weak that they were unable to connect while others didn't even realise there was a Wi-Fi service available.
