Danhostel Gjerrild is located at the tip of Djursland in a small, charming village near a splendid beach. It is surrounded by a large, beautiful and private beech forest with hiking paths, close to Sostrup Castle - now a monastery. The hostel was established in an old railway shed, and the location is renowned for its homely, relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen offers plenty of organic food for everyone. Danhostel Gjerrild provides 24 clean, comfortable rooms, a TV lounge, free Wi-Fi and parking, washing facilities, bicycle rentals and has ideal meeting rooms for courses and groups for up to 80 people. Close by is Djurs Sommerland Amusement Park, the Kattegat Centre, the area called Grenå, plus the cities of Århus and Randers. The area is great for bird watching and has a playground with space for ball games. There is a cycle path which leads to one of Denmark’s best beaches, Gjerrild Nordstrand. Go hiking in the large beech forest, take advantage of good fishing opportunities, or experience exciting geology and fossils at the nearby cliffs.
