Castle Arch Hotel (Trim, Ireland)

Castle Arch is well located to provide easy access to the attractions in Trim including Trim Castle, the original set of the movie Braveheart, situated within an easy and very pleasant walking distance. The hotel also offers a range of dining options from contemporary to traditional Irish in a clean and well-maintained environment. Food service is fast and friendly and the quality is exceptional.

Rooms are all en-suite and hotel housekeeping staff perform well in keeping rooms clean, well-serviced and properly maintained. Rooms are spacious without feeling too large and cosy enough without feeling stuffy.

Hotel staff can be commended on their professional attitude and high level of service. Front desk staff are very approachable and are happy to share local knowledge or book a taxi or tickets. Restaurant and bar staff are efficient and deliver fast and friendly service.

Choosing rooms requires a bit of careful consideration if travelling with young children or if easily disturbed. Some rooms are directly above the onsite disco/nightclub and loud music during special functions can be quite easily heard through the rather thin walls.

Another reason to pick rooms carefully has to do with the available views of the area. Trim and surroundings are quite scenic and first time visitors need to be aware that some rooms only offer views of adjacent buildings. It is best to enquire as to room with views availability before booking.

Some rooms seem to suffer from intermittent heating issues as the heating systems in rooms do not come on or do not produce sufficient heat for the room size.
