About The Crown Inn
The Crown Inn is a 16th century, traditional, pub with four-star rated en-suite B&B accommodation.
There are two double and two twin guest bedrooms. They retain the character of the building and contain essentials such as hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities.
Parking is free and The Crown Inn welcomes pets, large and small. With the availability of outside grass, up to eight horses can be stabled here. The inn's human guests can enjoy an attractive outdoor area, a relaxing decked section and impressive countryside views.
The beamed bar, with horse brasses and inglenook fireplaces, is home to extensive choices of beers, lagers, ciders and wines. The 40-seat restaurant serves breakfast and later dinner selections.
This South Shropshire location is popular with tourists, golfers and walkers. Horse riding and gliding are also popular activities. It is a short journey from the inn to Church Stretton and Bishop’s Castle.
Positive Reviews
positive:
An authentic country setting.
The inn is an ideal base for many a ‘Shropshire Lad' and lass, out to enjoy a break in this glorious neck of the woods. It's in a very small hamlet, which you get to along single-track roads. A bit tricky to navigate but the end result is well worth it. For excursions; try those to Long Mynd, The Stiperstones, Wenlock Edge and the ‘bright lights' of Ludlow and Shrewsbury.
positive:
Fabulous food.
Dining here is a relaxing delight and the food and accompanying drink choices are irresistible. Don't expect top-end dining; it's not that sort of place. What you get, though, is beautifully prepared, wholesome, dishes that are served by friendly and efficient members of staff who know what they're doing. *Something you don't get everywhere!
positive:
Rooms are delightful.
They retain the character of this old building but give nothing away when it comes to cleanliness and comfort. Beds are too good to get out of!
Negative Reviews
negative:
Little whines - (*+ big wines in the bar)
There's very little to moan about here but, here goes, anyway! There's no info in the room as to how things work. If there is a Wi-Fi connection, they keep it very quiet.
negative:
Focus on the flow.
There is an occasional hot water problem which can be a bit tiresome.
negative:
Walls of silence.
Room dimensions can dictate that one side of the bed is shoved up against the wall. No point complaining; they can't increase the room size! Still, this and other little niggles are quickly forgotten with a couple of drinks in the bar with the friendly locals!
