About Lake Illawarra
Situated just a short distance from the beach, Lake Illawarra is
a small B&B offering comfortable accommodation and an extensive breakfast
offering.
The five rooms are simply furnished and decorated, but have all you’ll need for a good night’s rest, including TV and en-suite bathroom. Some of the rooms even have their own private balcony.
Guests will find communal tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a microwave and fridge, in the reception area, which they are welcome to use. Motorists will find off street parking right out front.
Lake Illawarra prides itself on its breakfast offerings, which include not just an extensive continental selection, but many hot food items as well. There are a couple of decent restaurants within walking distance, including a casual Thai place.
Most guests will be attracted to lovely Windang Beach, which is just 700 yards from Lake Illawarra. Downtown Wollongong is nine miles to the north.

Truly excellent breakfast

positive:
Rooms were very clean
Guests reported that their own room was pretty clean when they first checked in, with no serious complaints in this regard to be found anywhere.
positive:
Friendly and cheerful owners
Guests commented that the couple who own and operate the B&B were exceptionally friendly, offering a warm and genuine welcome to their guests. It was also mentioned that they were a great source of local information, with guests receiving great tips and recommendations from them.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Facilities a bit too basic for some
Many guests described the accommodation as, in effect, “nothing flash”. While some accepted this, many others were not so understanding, saying that they would have been happier if the owners had made more of a effort making the rooms a bit more stylish.
negative:
Smoking allowed
A number of guests mentioned that smoking was allowed in the house, and so the rooms and public areas had a smell of stale smoke, even if nobody was smoking at the time they were staying. Asthmatics should take note.
negative:
House not well tended to
Many guests felt that the house as a whole was not really well tended to. Some spoke of the entrance being particularly untidy, something which did not exactly inspire confidence from the start.
